2022 Jeep Compass vs. 2022 Nissan Rogue

The Jeep Compass and the Nissan Rogue are two of the most popular small SUVs on the market. If you are looking to buy in this segment, these are the two names that are likely to keep coming to the top of your list. They are both stylish and reliable SUVs with plenty of great features and great performance.

Yet, upon closer inspection, you will likely find that the 2022 Jeep Compass has more to offer, as so many Jeep models do. The friendly associates at Bournival are ready to help you explore available models and learn all that the 2022 Compass has to offer. Here's a closer look at how the 2022 Jeep Compass and the 2022 Nissan Rogue compare to help you in your buying process:

Exterior Styling

Unlike some other SUV models, the Jeep Compass and the Nissan Rogue have distinctive styling, which makes it easy for those who have preferences about appearance.

The 2022 Jeep Compass has that classic Jeep styling, but with a sleeker and more modern look. The seven-slot grille is minimized to a thin strip, and it is surrounded in chrome. It sits on a neatly defined front fascia with a black air intake, tailored headlights, and fog lights. Black trim runs the length of the body, as well as over the roof line. A chrome accent runs just under the black along the roof. The profile ends in a squared off rear end.

The 2022 Nissan Rogue has more rounded edges and a more aerodynamic design. The Rogue has a distinctive front end that has a "U"-shaped grille, underscored by chrome and featuring the Nissan logo at the center. Sharply slanting headlights have a trapezoidal inner corner. Like the Compass, the Rogue has a black body bar running the length of its profile, but it wraps around round wheel wells, which gives the profile a different look. The front and rear windows have a steeper incline, and the rear has a distinctive bumper that gives it a tucked look from the side. The overall effect is one of forward motion.

Interior Styling and Capacity

Both the 2022 Jeep Compass and the 2022 Nissan Rogue have attractive interiors and seat up to five people comfortably. The 2022 Rogue model did not come with the optional third row of seating like in previous years.

Throughout the cabin, you're going to get a bit more space in the Nissan Rogue than in the Compass, which means all passengers will have a bit more room to stretch out. Overall cargo space in the Rogue is 31.6 cubic square feet, compared with 27.2 cubic square feet in the Compass.

The interior of the 2022 Rogue is stylishly configured. A pop-up infotainment display seems to float above the controls below, and the dashboard angles away from those controls toward a smaller point on the passenger's side. Some interiors are all-black, while others have a two-tone configuration that provides some interesting style. The center console is well-designed with an easy-to-reach shifter and conveniently placed cupholders.

Inside the 2022 Compass, you'll see some similar touches, but the overall look is very different. There is also a pop-up infotainment display, but the dash has a more straightforward design that offers little in the way of visual interest. An accent color bar divides the dash and seems to flow into the same accent on the doors. The center console puts the shifter right in the middle, with cupholders sitting behind it on either side.

Power and Performance

Power and performance are usually top of mind when someone is buying an SUV.

The 2022 Nissan Rogue comes standard with a 1.5-liter Inline 3 engine that puts out 201 horsepower and 225 lb-ft of torque. The engine is paired with a continuously variable transmission, and front-wheel drive is standard.

The 2022 Jeep Compass comes standard with a 2.4-liter Inline 4 engine that puts out 177 horsepower and 172 lb-ft of torque. That engine is paired with a six-speed shiftable automatic that gives drivers a greater sense of control. Front-wheel drive is also standard on the Compass.

Fuel economy is better on the Rogue. It gets an estimated 30 mpg in the city and 37 mpg on the highway, or a combined 33 mpg. The Compass gets an estimated 22 mpg in the city and 31 mpg on the highway, or a combined 25 mpg.

Convenience Features and Technology

Both of these popular SUVs are loaded with great features that make driving fun.

The 2022 Nissan Rogue has an infotainment system with Bluetooth capability, satellite radio, an mp3 player, and an auxiliary jack for streaming devices. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto also come standard. Interior features include a vehicle anti-theft system, keyless start, a rear parking aid, an adjustable steering wheel with mounted controls, variable speed intermittent windshield wipers, driver and passenger illuminated vanity mirrors, and a wireless cell phone hookup.

The 2022 Jeep Compass has similar features. The infotainment system has all the same features as the Rogue, except for the Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The Compass also adds a wi-fi hotspot, which does not come standard on the Rogue. The Compass also adds a hands-free communications system, heated mirrors, and remote engine start. However, it does not come with the rear parking aid or the illuminated mirrors. All other features are the same. Overall, you're likely to find that the Compass offers more of the modern features that you want and need.
